Side Effects of CBD Oil:

When taken alone, CBD is generally considered to be safe and results in relatively few side effects. Please be advised that consuming high serving sizes of CBD oil may result in some of the following side effects:

  • Dry mouth: CBD oil stimulates the endocannabinoid system, which can slow down or inhibit salivary glands. This could lead to “cotton mouth” and thirst. If you experience this and feel it is too intense, please stop taking CBD oil and consult with your physician.
  • Lower blood pressure: When taking a higher serving size of CBD oil, you may experience relatively quick symptoms of lightheadedness or slight dizziness. Therefore, if you are taking any medications that lower blood pressure, you should consult with your physician before taking any CBD oil products.
  • Drowsiness: Many people who take CBD oil report feeling more alert and energetic. However, others who consume higher serving sizes (or milligrams) have reported feelings of drowsiness. If you experience extreme drowsiness, refrain from driving or operating heavy equipment until the effects disperse.
  • Increase in Tremors: A few studies have reported that, when taken in very high serving sizes (300mg/day or more), CBD oil could increase movements or tremors in people with Parkinson’s disease or essential tremors. This is another category of illness or disease where it is recommended that you consult with your physician before trying CBD oil.

Drug Interactions or Precautions with CBD

In studies, CBD oil was shown to slow down, inhibit or neutralize certain liver enzymes. This could have a direct effect on how or whether certain prescription and over-the-counter drugs are metabolized. The two enzymes in question are CYP450 and P450. Each plays a big part in drug effectiveness. Thus, if you are taking any drug in the following list of drug categories, you should consult with your physician before using CBD oil.

  • Beta blockers
  • NSAIDs
  • Antibiotics
  • Anesthetics
  • Antipsychotics
  • Antidepressants
  • Anti-epileptics
  • Antiarrhythmics
  • Steroids
  • Ca Channel Blockers
  • HIV drugs/ antiviral medications
  • HMG CoA inhibitors
