If you have started your CBD journey and are not feeling the expected results, there are a few reasons why this may be. First off, we want to tell you not to give up! Every person’s journey is different and takes different amounts of time to reach the end goal. Just as individuals’ reactions to foods, herbs, supplements, and medical drugs vary from person to person, people’s physical and physiological reactions to CBD differ as well. Age, weight, medications, diet, hydration, conditions, ailments, durations of ailments, and causation can all play a part of how and when CBD works within the body. While some may feel the effects of CBD immediately, others may need to practice a little patience with their application. Here are a few things to consider if you think your CBD is not working for you.
Learning to dose the right amount for you may take a few days, or even weeks. If you are not taking enough CBD, you are less likely to experience worthwhile effects. Because the general rule for starting a CBD protocol is start low, then go slow, if you are one who requires a higher dose, it will take a little time to acclimate and reach your point of success. Of course, we recommend asking your doctor for advice. But if that does not happen, it’s best to start with a smaller dosage and increase the concentration over time. This means begin with 10-40 milligrams per day. After a week , if you feel your dose of CBD not working, then add 5 mg to your routine. Continue incremental increases every week until you feel it’s effectively treating your symptoms. Yes, it may seem like a long time. But you need to allow your body time to absorb and adjust to the new cannabinoids within your system. You can view a CBD dosage chart on our CBD 101 page.
Our customer service team regularly receives emails and calls beginning with, “I have been taking your CBD oil for three days and it’s not working.” It is important to remember that a delayed result does not mean your CBD is not working. While many customers report positive effects within a few days of use, many must take CBD for a longer period of time before seeing the true, fulfilled effects of taking CBD oil.
For example, someone experiencing intense chronic pain will likely be disappointed if they expect immediate results from CBD. However, if they allow the cannabinoid to build up in their system, their inflammation may subside over time. On average, a minimum of 20-30 days is required to start feeling the benefits of CBD oil, especially if you are dealing with chronic issues.
Weight may impact the effectiveness of your CBD dose. Cannabinoids are attracted to fats, meaning some of your dose may be absorbed into your body’s fat reserves before reaching your bloodstream. In short, if your BMI (Body Mass Index) is high or higher than normal, a higher CBD dosage may be required. There are two methods to increase your dosage. You can either increase the volume of your intake, or seek a higher concentration in your CBD oil. High concentration products (such as our 2000mg CBD oil) are worth a look – as it helps with cost over time.
This may seem obvious, but it’s worth reiterating. The quality of CBD plays a crucial role in providing therapeutic results. There are many companies out there selling CBD oil – and many have undefined sources as well as extraction methods. Producing a high-quality CBD includes sourcing the proper resources, farming, lab work, and testing. (Read: Why Plant and Production Matter). These methods come with a cost, and are absolutely crucial to producing a high-quality therapeutic product. Some companies boast they are selling high-quality oil at a low price. However, this is truly not possible. Organic farming, processing, and additional ingredients are not low cost parts of the process to create therapeutic CBD oil. Remember that this industry is very new and regulations are still catching up with production and demand.
Have you had little success with isolate? If so, you may want to try a full-spectrum CBD oil if you are not subject to drug tests. An isolate contains ONLY cannabidiol – with zero THC and other cannabinoids. A full-spectrum CBD oil contains additional cannabinoids, helping the entourage effect work within your body.
